The exhibition was created in 2004 and consists of nearly 40 works. The idea for it was born from the experiences of Professor Kunlun Zhang, one of the most famous and respected sculptors of modern China. He was illegally held as a prisoner of conscience in China by the communist authorities. The reason for his detention was his spiritual beliefs. He practices the ancient Chinese practice of mind and body cultivation Falun Dafa, based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance (in Chinese Zhen, Shan, Rhen).
As a result of Professor Zhang’s experiences, the exhibition “The Art of Zhen-Shan-Rhen” presents two sharply contrasting worlds. One is the beauty of spiritual elevation through following the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance and assimilation with the divine. The other is that of the brutal tortures to which thousands of people in China are still subjected to this day, whose only “crime” is that they have different spiritual beliefs from those of the ruling Chinese Communist Party.
The exhibition “The Art of Zhen-Shan-Rhen” has been presented in over 900 cities in more than 50 countries on 6 continents, including the European Parliament, the US Congress, as well as the parliaments of the UK, Canada and Australia. This is the second visit of the exhibition to Bulgaria, after its debut tour in our country, which took place in 2018.
